The proprietor of Recivilization is Michael Pauls   .  I'm from Cleveland , 


         which explains my medieval outlook and bad attitude.  Eons ago, as a young policy wonk in a galaxy far away, I worked in


 politics and for inner-city neighborhood development corporations, to little effect  .  Quite unaccountably,

 fate dragged me off to a career writing travel guides  .   Dana and I now live in southwest



     France.    I've been lucky. I've had a couple of decades to spend mostly looking at cities and learning how



                    they work.  But as my friends will tell you, I never really left home .
